Yes, the cost is Rp 75,000 to T-lands, Rp 50,000 to Squealers and Rp 100,000 to Sucky Mummas (all round trip). Please organise the day before with our staff to ensure we can get you to the breaks at the desired times.

Is there wifi?

At this time, we don't have Wifi at Rote Beach Bungalows, as the service providers don’t extend to our village. If Internet is a must during your stay we recommend getting a Telkomsel local SIM ahead of your visit and connecting to the local 4G network. There is a strong service signal on the property. Alternatively you can connect to Wifi at one of the cafes in Nembrala, which is a short 5 minute bike ride from our property.

What breaks will we be surfing?

There are numerous surf breaks on Rote Island in a short vicinity from one another. The vibe out in the water is super relaxed and welcoming. The crowds are mellow compared to most destinations in Indonesia, which means there are plenty of waves to be shared and have fun. The two main surf spots are T-lands, a long left hand reef break with multiple take off spots for intermediate and advanced surfers, and Squealers, a fun left and right hand reef break perfect for beginners to work on the fundamentals of surfing. Depending on the conditions and the skill level of each individual will depend on which surf breaks you will be surfing. Below are a list of the surf breaks in the area:

  • T-land - Rote islands premier wave. It's one of the most consistent and longest left-handers in the Indonesian archipelago. It's surfable at all tides and breaks from 2ft – 15ft it’s offshore from April to December. Surfer level intermediate to advanced. A long left hander with varying take off sections, which provide a very long ride when the conditions line up. A board with a bit more volume is recommended to get into some bigger waves. During high tide you can paddle through the lagoons or walk the reef on low tide, however you will have access to our boats that will wait for you to surf.

  • Squealers - Great for beginners the reef break is a left and right hander that reforms on the inside. It’s a soft rolling wave that allows time for beginners to get to their feet and enjoy a long ride. Also, suitable for intermediate surfers to work on their positioning, the right hander can open up with some fun sections to do turns. Surfable on mid-high tide and holds surf from to 2-4ft. It’s an idyllic spot for longboarders, and beginner short boarders. Surfer level beginner to intermediate.

  • Boa - This is a fast barrelling right-hander. Located 15 minutes motorbike ride away. It’s a steep jacking wave that reels off down the reef, has two tube sections surfable from 2- 10 ft. Breaks best at low-mid tide with light winds. Surfer level intermediate to advanced.

  • Sucky Mama’s - A fast jacking right hander wave that barrels hard then bends into a deep channel. Best surfed at Low-medium tide and light trade winds surfable from 3-8 ft located 15 minutes away by our boat from the villa. Surfer level intermediate to advanced depending on the conditions.
