T-Lands
T-Lands is what Rote Island is reknowned for. It's one of the most consistent and longest left-handers in the Indonesian archipelago. Can be surfed on all tides and the surf height can peak to 15 - 18 foot during the months of July to September.
T-Lands is a long left hander with varying take off sections, from The Point, Pyramids, Mountain and Inner bowls it has got a take off spot for all surfers. It provides a long ride with multiple sections to belt off the lip. We recommend riding a bigger board than usual to match the speed of the wave, especially when it gets big and the trade winds are up. It is a 10 minute boat ride from our accomodation.
Surf height ranges from 2 to 18 foot.
Surfer level: Intermediate to advanced.

Sucky Mummas
One of our favourite spots to surf on Rote Island. Sucky Mummas is a right-hand reef break that barrels hard into a channel. There a multiple take off spots depending on the tide and the swell. Usually best surfed on low to mid tide for barrelling waves and high tide for steep walls to turn off. It is a 15 minute boat ride from our accomodation.
Surf height ranges from 2 to 7 foot.
Surfer level: Advanced.

Squealers
Great for beginners, it is a left and right hand surf break that reforms again when the wave gets closer to shore. It’s a soft rolling wave that allows time for beginners to get to their feet and enjoy a long ride. Also, suitable for intermediate surfers to work on their positioning, the right hander can open up with some fun sections to do turns. It’s an idyllic spot for longboarders, paddle boarders, foilers and beginner short boarders. A short 5 minute boat ride from our accomodation.
Surf height ranges from 2 to 4 foot.
Surfer level: Beginner to intermediate.

Bo'a
Bo’a is a super fun right hand reef break. It’s one of the only spots on the Rote Island where you can walk out from the beach and access the wave. The wave makes your surfing feel alive, as it draws off the reef allowing multiple turn sections to belt. When the swell hits 5-7 foot the place lights up, offering long barrels for the experienced surfer and an intense take off spot out the back for those skilful enough to handle the drop.
Surf height ranges from 2 - 7 foot.
Surfer level: Intermediate to advanced.

Oeseli
When the swell builds and T-lands is 8-15 foot, Oeseli starts to fire up. It’s an intense left-hander that breaks across a shallow reef. It’s accessible by land and is approximately a 30 minute bike ride from our accomodation. Best surfed on low-mid tide.
Surf height ranges from 2-4 foot.
Surfer level: Intermediate to advanced.

Dana
Dana requires a solid swell for this place to turn on. It’s a heavy barrelling left hand reef break that gets super drainy on the inside section. Pulau Dana can only be accessed by boat.
